BOTOX and Dysport Injections vs. Dermal Fillers
Injectables and fillers are used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles in men and women. Injections are considered to be non-invasive procedures, which continue to grow in popularity in Americans who want to dramatically improve their appearance without undergoing actual surgery. BOTOX injections are currently the number one most popular non-surgical procedure, while hyaluronic acid injections are the second most popular type of non-surgical procedure. While BOTOX and dermal fillers work in different ways, each of these treatments is effective in treating wrinkles and helping patients look years younger.
BOTOX and Dysport Injections
BOTOX and Dysport injections use a solution that paralyzes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. About two to three days after the BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport has been injected, results become apparent and can last for up to six months. BOTOX Cosmetic has been on the market for years, but Dysport is a newer injectable. Many plastic surgeons and dermatologists report that Dysport offers results that are similar to those offered by BOTOX injections
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, and Radiesse are hyaluronic acid based fillers that restore volume in facial lines and wrinkles. Other fillers include collagen, Sculptra, Artefill, Captique, Elevess, and a range of others. Each type of filler is effective in filling in crow’s feet, marionette lines, laugh lines, brow lines, and other wrinkles. Most dermal fillers last for about three to six months, while others such as Radiesse can last for up to one year. Doctors recommend that patients use a filler that lasts for a shorter period of time before having Radiesse injected to ensure that the patient is satisfied with the results.
BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport, and dermal fillers are all safe and effective wrinkle treatments that can dramatically minimize the appearance of facial wrinkles. If you are considering undergoing wrinkles injections, consult a qualified medical professional in your area.
