Both Restylane and Perlane have long-lasting results, are composed of biodegradable non-animal hyaluronic acid, and are well tolerated. However, Perlane® has larger gel particles that give it the additional ability to lift and fill the areas that may require a denser formulation.
If you can imagine the skin as having layers, much like a bed may have a box spring on the bottom, a mattress in the middle and then a “pillow top” on top, then you will understand that Perlane is the ideal “middle layer” hyaluronic acid filler product. It is injected into the deep dermis to treat more pronounced facial folds and wrinkles such as those on the sides of the mouth. Perlane and Restylane are perfect compliments to one another.
As we age our cheekbones resorb and the fat pads drop causing folds to develop in our marionette lines and joules to drop squaring out the face. About Perlane
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) has approved the dermal filler Perlane for implantation into the deep dermis to superficial subcutaneous for the correction of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds.
Perlane is the newest member of the Restylane family of products and, like Restylane; Perlane is comprised of biotechnologically engineered, non-immunogenic, stabilized hyaluronic acid gel particles.
The primary difference between Restylane and Perlane is that the hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those found in Restylane.
