My best friend had an accident which resulted in three strokes. Because of the strokes and the breathing tubes her vocal cords are distorted and her muscles are very stiff and her facial muscles tense up to where she can’t open her eyes. She receives botox in her face (eyes and lips) as well as in her legs and fingers. This is painful but really, really helps her. Unfortunately, she cannot have surgery on her vocal cords because she has really bad asthma. I hope this helps and actually, I would love some information on this doctor or anything you wish to provide. My poor friend experiences so much frustration with her difficulties speaking and I never thought of her getting botox in her vocal cords. This could maybe be an answer for her! Thank you for your question and I hope things get better for you. Take care!
I have severe vocal cord dysfunction. I have had this done. It didn’t help me, but this is what will happen:
The doctor will first inject a "numbing" medicine into your voice box. He’ll fiddle with the needle for a little bit, trying to find just the right "spot". After that, he’ll take a needle and inject the botox. It doesn’t hurt at all.
My throat hurt so badly, however, for the next couple of days I could barely eat or drink anything. And my voice became quite raspy. It didn’t work for me, though – so hopefully it will for you.
Cheers!
For me, Hydroderm is not a complete substitute for Botox. Hydroderm does however work well for me in many
places, and is certainly a lot cheaper. It’s also a lot safer in my opinion. I found some good basic info
at this site that got me started:

Good luck.
